Yankees Pitcher Finishes Third in AL Cy Young Voting

The recipient of a bachelor's in accounting from SUNY University of Buffalo, Darren Grunberg is an equity trader who has worked for multiple high-profile firms throughout his career, including Carlin Financial Group and T3 Trading Group. Beyond his professional pursuits, Darren Grunberg is a passionate fan of Major League Baseball's (MLB) New York Yankees.

The Yankees returned to the playoffs in 2017 after a one-year absence. A major contributor to the team's success was Luis Severino, who was recently named the second runner-up for the American League (AL) Cy Young Award. In the season prior, Severino posted a disastrous 0-8 win-loss record and a bloated 8.50 earned run average (ERA) through 11 starts. He later settled into a role in the bullpen and was expected by most to stay there in 2017. Instead, the Yankees made him the fifth starter and he pitched well above anyone's expectation.

The 23 year old posted a 14-6 record to go along with a 2.98 ERA in 31 starts. He also recorded a whopping 230 strikeouts and only 51 walks in 193 and one-third innings on his way to being named to the AL All-Star team. The AL Cy Young went to Corey Kluber of the Cleveland Indians, while Chris Sale of the Boston Red Sox finished second in the voting.

Tom Sawyer - Enduringly Popular Rush Song With a Vital Message

As equity trader with the T3 Trading Group, Darren Grunberg is responsible for autonomous trading decisions based on a proprietary book assigned to him. Passionate about music, Darren Grunberg is a particular fan of Rush, which has been at the forefront of arena and progressive rock music since the 1970s.

The Canadian musical unit’s most enduringly popular song is Tom Sawyer, which debuted on the 1981 album Moving Pictures and has been a staple of live concerts since. Featuring synthesizer up front and center, the song was a collaboration between lyricist Pye Dubois and drummer Neil Peart. As the latter musician explained it, the song presented Dubois’ vision of a rebellious, free-spirited individualist who combined elements of boy and man in maintaining an attitude that was both purposeful and wide-eyed. The high-octane song continues to be a major influence to rock musicians and was highlighted in a key scene in Steven Spielberg’s new science fiction movie Ready Player One, in which a cyber-detective takes on robotic adversaries.
